Julia Child vs Cyan LeBlanc

When someone joked about writing a cannibal cookbook, I took that as a challenge. It needed to be both fictional and Sapphic. I already had the Sapphic element down with my two books, “Dying To Meat You” and “The Taste of Women.”
It took all of five mintues for my wife to title my fictional book. Being a foodie and all, she titled the book after Julia Child’s famous cookbook with “Mastering The Art of Female Cookery” and it worked.
I didn’t want the book to just be recipe after recipe. No, there needed to be a story. The one book that came to mind was Alex Guarnaschelli’s Old-School Comfort Food: The Way I Learned to Cook: A Cookbook because it wasn’t just about recipes, but was almost like an autobiography where she discussed how she learned to cook. This was the idea behind my tongue-in-cheek fictional memoir of a unlikely chef.

I finally got my copy of the book, and it is beautiful. Sadly, its not selling. Set to Kindle Unlimited, the book is available to be read by anyone with a KU account. With only 15 paid units, this is my most unsuccessful book. Why is that?
My wife says that the book is misunderstood because no one understands what they are getting by the cover art, which I love. She said, I should change the cover art to something disgusting that screams cannibalism. I am torn.
Right now the book sits at 4.34 stars with 25 reviews, none of which are 1-stars.
Cyan LeBlanc, we need to talk… you may have one of the most beautifully f@ck3d minds I’ve ever had the pleasure to catch a glimpse inside of. This book had me laughing (not sure if that was intentional or if I’m just that messed up) and shaking my head asking what the h3ll was happening on almost every page. As someone who enjoys cooking as a hobby, I loved reading all the recipes. I loved how the story telling intertwined with the recipes. Each recipe had it’s place and reason. Then finally, the ending wrapped everything up with a beautiful little bow and everything made sense.
This is one of my favorite reviews. There are more and more like this. The people who have read the book love it… but so many haven’t taken a chance on this unknown book.
I know it doesn’t scream horror. It doesn’t scream lesbian. It just doesn’t scream anything—at all. And it’s probably the book I love the most. It has been through a professional editor and released by a small press. The question is: What do you think it will take to get people to notice this book?
UPDATES ON CURRENT WIPS

Two new chapters are available for everyone to read in the blog-style memoir, Fan Boy. If you haven’t had a chance to read it, you will laugh and cry… maybe even cringe with me as I tell the tale of my so-called life.

On the girl/Mistress expanded edition, I have created a couple brand new chapters, which dive in CJ’s background a bit more. We are up to chapter 26 on the first book. “Cause & Effect” will be renamed to “Moment of Weakness” to follow on the theme of titles being named after Bif Naked songs.
You can follow along with the new rewrite by upgrading your membership to a paid. Get 20% off forever by upgrading today.

“Good Clean Fun” is up to chapter 6 on Kindle Vella. I don’t know when they will put the episodes under a paywall but for now, all six chapters can be read for free. This book is being released under Cyan LeBlanc. It is Sapphic dark romance, leaning to horror in upcoming chapters. I’d love to hear your opinions on that, so jump over and read a few chapters… let me know what you think.

“Tomes of Terror” is a promotion of a bunch of authors who are giving away books. Both “Dying To Meat You” and “The Taste of Women” are part of the promo, so if you haven’t gotten a copy of either of them… jump over and grab them.
