And why is this important enough to post here?

Hannah Montana premiered on the Disney Channel on March 24, 2006. It wasn’t into 2008 did I begin to watch the series religiously as well as Wizards of Waverly Place. How I happened upon this show was, honestly, by chance.

At the time, we were collecting blu-ray discs at a feverish pace and the Disney released Sleeping Beauty in October of 2008. One of the extras on the disc was Emily Osment’s video of “Once Upon a Dream.” And in creepy fashion, I was hooked. I had to know more about this girl and that’s when I found out about Hannah Montana.

As a dormant writer, a story popped into my head with Emily as the star. What I didn’t know is that “real-person fiction” (RPF) was a thing. I wrote something that I never knew was a thing until learned about fan-fiction and how THAT was a thing.

In this fan fiction, I wrote a story about Emily who gets invited to a TeenDom party Miley and Mitchell (actors from the show). At this party, Emily meets a 100% fictional character and gets mixed up in a BDSM relation in which she knows nothing about. Does this sound familiar?

At the same time I am writing this, a former friend had gotten into writing Kim Possible fan fiction which is how I learned that fan fiction was A THING. She introduced me to FanFiction.net (much like AO3 now). By this time, I am watching Hannah Montana day in and day out and I explored the website to see if I could put my story online. Well… I was writing RPF not real fan fiction.

What I noticed was how the most popular pairing of character was actually Hannah (Miley)/Lilly.

WHAT? They’re lesbians?

In order to get my story out there in the world I had to rewrite it for the most popular (relation)ship possible. And so “I’m Not a Girl, Not Yet a Mistress” was born. No longer was my fictional character fictional. This male BDSM submissive became Miley, with Lilly taking Emily’s place. She was always going to be my Mistress-in-training character. My story involved into one of the biggest and most popular Hannah Montana stories at the time (and their were a lot).

“Cause & Effect” was another Hannah Montana story I wrote, as was “Open Your Eyes,” which was originally titled Afternoon Delight. I wrote a good 20 fan fics in my days, getting darker and more perverted as they went, changing pairings to shock readers. Most of which were trashed when I came to my senses. But still… Hannah Montana woke that writer in me and I haven’t stopped since.

When I wanted to publish outside FanFiction.net and try my hand at real fiction, I took the best stories and changed the names, enhanced, and revamp for general consumption.

girl/Mistress was born.

The original story started at my book #4 and continued into book #5. There were always plans for a prequel, which never came to fruition during my fanfic days. I did, however, complete that with book #2, which was written way before book one and three. But I loved Trixi (originally Traci Van Buren from the show) so much, I needed to go back and make her such a key role that she is just as much the star of my girl/Mistress series as Megan is.

Every once in a while when I need some inspiration, I turn on the Disney Channel to watch the later seasons because Megan/Miley’s persona was very much late season 3, season 4, and the movie. She’s coming into her womanhood at this stage and makes it much easier for me to visualize her as a 18-19 year old rather than 11-12 year old Miley does in the early seasons.

Happy Anniversary Hannah Montana. For the past 18 years, I have been writing because these cast members were the launching pad for my career. They are who are on my mind when I touch girl/Mistress. I will never hide my roots, never hide the fact that Hannah Montana and her friends were inspiration for so much creativity in my life.

So, this year… we celebrate 20 years of Hannah Montana.

I’m glad it came into my life when it did and wouldn’t change it for the world.
