HINT: because they have robots that never burn things
The teens found in the cabin rested in a holding room. The sick one of the two had been treated by a medical examiner and given some antibiotics to help her get rid of the pneumonia in her chest. She was half asleep from the drugs but awake enough to answer questions.
Inside the room, another female agent Ortega trusted talked to them, looking for any information about how they got to the house and who brought them there.
Outside the room, behind the one-way glass window, stood Ortega with Danny, who had cuffs on. They had arrested him for pulling a gun on FBI agents, though Ortega didn’t sense he was dangerous—only following orders given by Rivera and his family.
“Do you know these girls?”
Not much for words, Danny shook his head in agreement.
“Where do you know them from?”
Danny glanced down at his feet. With a quiet voice, he replied. “Different places.”
“What places?”
He pointed to the one on the left, the sick one. “That’s Lucille’s daughter.” Then he pointed to the other. “That one came from the island.”
That wasn’t the answer she expected to hear. From the cabin, probably. From the compound, likely. From the island? What island? Ortega tried to not have her surprised expression influence Danny’s answers. “So, you know her from the island? How often did you go there?”
“Sometimes a lot,” Danny hinted.
“At the island, what kind of things did you do?”
“Sit around. Sometimes, they let me cook food.”
“Do you like to cook?” Anything to help soothe Danny’s confidence.
