Hospitality? I was kidnapped...
The house phone rang as if right on cue.
“Hey, Mom. I hope you liked your surprise last night.”
That must be Rachel. “Thank you for living up to your part of the bargain.”
“I hope I don’t have to take her away again. Get dressed. We’ll have breakfast as a family, including our gals, at the dining hall. Then we will continue our tour while Lucille shows Rachel how the wives live.”
“Let’s leave Rachel out of this, please.”
“Did you really think that Rachel gets a free pass? There are no free rides here.”
“Well, at least give her some time to adjust.”
“You want to have your cake and eat it too? Sorry. Rachel is either in, or she’s out. And ‘out’ doesn’t mean she goes home.”
“What are you saying, Salvy? ”
“Only the tough survive,” he said with a hint of a chuckle.
“There has to be another way. She’s not like us,” Alyssa insisted.
“In or out?”
“We already had breakfast,” Alyssa stated, ignoring the question.
“Sex doesn’t count as breakfast. Now, let’s go. Fifteen minutes.” The call disconnected.
Replacing the receiver, Alyssa walked into the bathroom. Rachel had just finished her shower and was drying off. When they locked eyes, there was no hiding that something was wrong.
“What?” Rachel asked.
