Time is my worst enemy when it comes to the author business…

When I started writing stories, I started over on FanFiction, dabbling in short stories and even longer ones. This is where the “girl/Mistress” series was born. Then I didn’t care about making money—because let’s face it, you can’t make money on characters that are not yours, unless that company hires you.
I doubt Disney would have allowed me to publish Hannah Montana BDSM.
What I loved about FanFiction was the instant gratification of fellow Hannah Montana lovers. They didn’t care if the stories were free of grammatical errors, they just wanted good stories. And then they loved your most recent chapter, they gave you feedback.
Once I ended my FanFic days, I started writing non-fanfiction. Then I utilizing Amazon’s CreateSpace for publishing. This was back in 2012. I released 5-6 poorly edited books on my own and got horrible reviews because of it.
I quit in 2015, and began publishing on Wattpad.
There wasn’t a lot of success for me on Wattpad—my stories never got more than a handful of reads except for one. I blame the sexy young man on the cover.
It was in 2022 that I decided I wanted to write professionally.
My wife recently asked me if I am writing for money or am I writing for the love of telling a story. In a perfect world, BOTH…
In my world, I guess it would be for the love of it (OR MORE SO… THE HELL OF IT).
As much as I would love to make money at writing, I lack the single most important ingredient in the writing world. TIME. Time to promote. Time to focus on market research.
TIME IS MY WORST ENEMY.
Obviously, money isn’t my driving factor because I don’t make enough to give me more time to focus on the business aspect of writing. What motivates me to keep going is my love for story-telling and to know people are reading my stories.
This is why I bring my writing direct to the readers.
How you can keep me going… UPGRADE TO A PAID SUBSCRIPTION.
It’s only $15.00 for the year or $2.00 per month. That is like buying one of my eBooks per month. What you get is access to works in progress like Thorns of Yesterday, which is posting now. You will get an eBook copy of that for FREE when it is completed. You will also have access to short stories (new and old) and my entire back catalog (and the eBooks) as I begin posting them on Substack.
ALSO… I have coupons for FREE audiobooks that I hand out to my paid readers.
UPDATES
Thorns of Yesterday is progressing nicely behind the scenes. This week, chapters 17-19 will post online. I’m editing chapter 24 currently. There are 36 chapters total in this 60K novel.
Five more chapters then Mirage will be finished posting on this Substack. It will remain on the website for readers to enjoy. Currently, the prologue is available for all readers.
So what is coming next on the horizon for online stories?
The girl/Mistress series doesn’t come off Kindle Unlimited until December 18th, so I cannot begin the serialization of that until probably 2026, which is less than two months away.
Meanwhile, I can begin posting Love In The Shadows or Mastering the Art of Female Cookery. YOU DECIDE.
Once you decide which book is next up, I post the prologue for everyone!!!
Until next time,
Cyan!
