This was wrong, so very wrong.

This was wrong, so very wrong. The lights in the gallery should not have been off during business hours on a Friday night, when business should be booming. As Ren stepped up to the front door, she pulled. Why is it locked? She shuffled through her purse, searching for the keys. The normal streetlights weren’t on either.
This wasn’t right.
She fingered around in her bag to find them by touch, not sight, but something drew her attention up. Ren’s eyes widened as she witnessed that harlot stalking the gallery floor. The moonlight glinted against the blade of the knife in the woman’s hands. Panic rose from her chest as she pounded on the glass. Just then, the woman turned around.
It was Corina, and she blew Ren a kiss just before she stepped around the back wall. Fear and urgency struck her when she grasped the keys in her hands and fought to steel herself enough to open the front door. When the lock clicked open, Ren burst through the entrance and skidded around the back wall, determined to stop Corina. A familiar scream rose from her throat and echoed through the gallery when blood was pooling around Corina’s feet.
Avery.
