After being on the list for a heart transplant for so long, the call finally came. Sarah Kurtzman would have a new heart. Little did she know it had belonged to a madman.

Now out of the hospital and on her road to recovery, Sarah begins to change. Urges. Anger. Strange feels she can not understand. Yet, there’s something stronger than her will that pushes her over the edge and into madness.

“Heartbeat of Madness” is a sapphic horror short story, written for the anthology, “We’re Still Here”.

The LGBTQ+ community is a wondrous spectrum in which gender identities and sexual orientations, or lack thereof, are not only accepted but celebrated. It is in this spirit that the diverse authors of We’re Still Here: An Anthology of LGBTQ+ Horror composed thirteen thought-provoking, emotion-inspiring, and highly entertaining tales. This book follows last year’s successful We’re Here anthology, which raised an agreeable sum for the Trevor Project. And we hope to do the same this year.
