Writing updates and other affairs….

Writing isn’t always about new stories. In order to publish a book, there is the first draft and a second draft rewrite then an editor’s look. When it comes back, there is an approval of edits and adjustments. Back and forth a few times until we all agree it’s ready.

Right now, I am in the middle of the second draft process of Thorns of Yesterday but I am working with an editor along the way, so as I finish my second drafts, it is being posted on this site then going to an editor at the same time.

But what I realized is… I have not really dedicated any quality time focused on a new project—that first draft that sparks the imagination.

While I have released a “few” books, they were all stories that have been stalled between first and second drafts. And the number of books I have released has been dwindling. Not because I am not writing, but life just seems to not allow true focus.

In 2022, the beginning of my “author career,” I released 7 books (only 1 book was written from start to finish that year)

In 2023, I released another 7 books. 6 of those books were written that year. My best year.

In 2024, I released 3 books (2 were newly written) and 6 short stories for reader magnets or anthologies.

This year, I have only released 2 books which were not written this year, just edited and published. We are in middle of October and it’s unlikely there will be any more official releases. This doesn’t mean there’s no content.

This year, I’ve wanted to focus on serial or WIP releases online. Again, didn’t come into fruition fully. It’s growing, just not at the pace I wanted. Thorns of Yesterday is coming along, posting often. Chapters of Mirage has begun to post and is scheduled ahead for the upcoming week for every other day.

A lot of my short stories are now out of KU, so I will be looking to tossing them up on this site and my bookstore for readers. In December, Cause and Effect will be removed from KU and I’ll begin to repost the extended version—continuing on with the serialized version of girl/Mistress. I’ve come up with ideas on how to continue this series with stand alone books.

Want to hear some of the ideas?

That will be for a different post. There are a lot of plans… plans is the keyword. I just need to get the ball rolling in a forward motion.

UNTIL NEXT TIME…
