Tentacles anyone?
Maybe the universe is telling me something…
This past week, I was at work when someone made a innuedo about a stuffed Octopus plush that we got in the store. I mentioned to my new boss that I have an octopus book to write and showed her the future cover art for it. Two days later, another Substacker posted an online story with tentacle-sex.
Maybe the universe is telling me to write this book…
When I wrote The Taste of Women, people thought the idea of lesbian cannibals was original, unique, and quite erotic. Do you know how many books I’ve seen with lesbian cannibals now? Exactly.
Not that tentacle sex is an original idea… but I am sure I can bring something different to the table. Now, I just need to have an idea — more than just a cool book cover by the incredible Ruth Anna Evans.
Speaking of ideas… being a pantser is hard because you have an idea that isn’t really thought out and you are trying to figure it as you go along, hoping the book will write itself. Baby is the thorn in my side at the moment. I had a kick-ass cover and basic concept of the book. It’s easy to think of ways to kill people in a horror book but I am struggling with how long to keep the carnage growing AND how to stop it. I feel there is a lot of build up—yet, I’d hate to just jump to an ending. I need some juicy substance to the tale.

Later today, the epilogue for Thorns of Yesterday will post. The manuscript is with my editor now, so I hope to see that finished early next year.
