A welcome back to work meeting for the company...
Before we move into chapter 11, I wanted to share the original cover art for this book. I redesigned it before I started the rewrite.
CHAPTER 11
The meeting started quickly.
Joanne came up in front of the group. “Welcome back, everyone. I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday. As we start the new year, we are excited to continue our recovery from the issues that plagued us last year. I thank everyone still with us and those who have faith. We will emerge from the fire, much stronger than before. You may notice a new face in our mix. I have enlisted the help of my daughter, Alyssa, for the future growth of our company by rescuing our past.”
When Joanne mentioned that Alyssa was her daughter, Toni turned and whispered into Rachel’s ear. “You hooked up with the boss’s daughter?”
The obvious shocked expression on Toni’s face caused Rachel to release Alyssa’s hand and then push Toni away. “Shut up,” she said in a hushed tone.
The sudden disconnect from the simple display of affection caused Alyssa to push herself away from her. When she noticed Alyssa had scooted away from her, an internal struggle developed inside her. She wanted their hands together, but if Toni had noticed, who else did?
She didn’t need gossip spreading around the office that she was sleeping with the boss’s daughter, which wasn’t the case.
“I’ll appreciate any help you can give when asked,” Joanne continued, following up with discussions about finances, projections, and any employee comments and questions.
