CHAPTER 7

After two quick stops before work, she arrived at the office. There were more cars that day than on Friday. One was Rachel’s. A warmth drew up from her belly at the sight of it.

She grabbed the two bags on the passenger’s seat and her coffee then continued into the office through the unlocked front door. She rounded the corner, passing her office, to Rachel’s.

Without a greeting, Alyssa sat one of the two bags on the corner of the desk. “Breakfast tacos. Bacon and Chorizo, I didn’t know your preference.” The widest smile grew upon Rachel’s face as Alyssa continued, “I would have added coffee, but that is a little harder to get correct.”

“Thank you but you didn’t need to buy me breakfast. Or coffee. But, Thank you again.”

“What would have been the coffee if I had?” Alyssa asked.

“Caffe Americano.”

“Good to know.” She stepped away.

Rachel glanced over her shoulder, watching Alyssa enter her office through the window that separated them. She placed her own bag in front of her and ate her tacos.

That’s when the dream Rachel had of Alyssa popped into her head. She grinned as she remembered. Daydreams of a life that was much better than her current one. Time alone on the beach, or time on the beach with her new crush. She didn’t want to be at work though Alyssa made it bareable.
