Find out why I am moving to direct sales.

With everything happening in the world with tariffs and boycotting companies that are anti-DEI and anti-LGBTQ+, I stand with you if you decide to boycott.

Here’s the thing… while Amazon may have more money than God and are not nice guys, they do play a huge role in indie publishing world. Like it or not, many authors NEED Amazon in order find readers and make a living.

I wish there was a way for all indie authors to get away from the big guys and sell their wares elsewhere. Discoverability is why most people do not go off on their own.

Sadly with talks of banning queer fiction, people are scared of not being able to find their favorite genres—afraid that Amazon will remove their downloads and take away their digital libraries. BUT… authors can be direct if they don’t go with Kindle Unlimited.

Many indies have their books in KU to open their catalog to everyone. If you’re not KU, you can buy the book. If you subscribe to KU then there is no risk at giving a new author a try. It’s a win-win for some.

But… here is the thing. Amazon is known for censoring books. They have removed content for no reason. Well-known indie authors have woken up in the morning to find their account cancelled, even when they followed all the rules. WHY? Because Amazon sucks and they can do whatever the hell they want.

With AI running rampant on Amazon, and them not caring on if people are shitting out content and passing it off as their own work… I decided that my books will be available WIDE—which means, I will sell my books direct to those who want them. Yes, they are on Amazon still…

I put all of my books on KU, just to find that I wasn’t making anymore money than I was without it when you factor in direct sales. Now, they are all coming off of KU very, very soon. While, I will still upload my books to Amazon (as long as they allow me to have an account), but I will be releasing all of my books directly from my website.

Now is the time to support indie authors—be part of the artisan author movement, where writers care about quality over quantity. Amazon is okay with letting people rapid release books of AI-written work and THAT IS NOT OKAY!

I’d rather have 100 or 1000 true fans of my work who stick with me for 2-3 books a year than attempt to reach whoever is willing to read crap a computer spits out in less than 20-minutes.

Therefore, I have reopened my website for direct eBook sales, with a handful of signed paperbacks available. Enjoy. Shop. Support the indie arts.

Cyan’s Posies & Peacocks is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.
